Hi, I’m Jasmine (she/her).

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York. I am also licensed in New Jersey and Connecticut (LPC).
My Approach & Background
Creative & Collaborative
I believe the therapeutic process is a unique, powerful, active, creative, collaborative, and professional relationship that has the potential for individuals to feel a sense of safety, non judgment, validation, empowerment, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. I value the arts, social justice, inclusivity and sex-positivity and try to incorporate them into my work. I utilize an eclectic approach of Multicultural, Feminist, Existential, Relational, DBT, IFS and EMDR therapy that can help foster change, awareness, acceptance and growth.
Insightful & Intuitive
I have experience working with cancer patients and caregivers, elderly adults, women, BIPOC and LGBTQ populations in regards to chronic pain, illness, health, trauma, loss, grief, loneliness, life transitions, relationships, anxiety, depression and explorations of race, culture, sexual orientation and gender identity. I also enjoy working with first generation, immigrant and/or diaspora communities and identities and enjoy when culture, art, media and current events enter the virtual room. I also welcome your feedback and try to use and model patience, humor, authenticity, the here and now, and mindfulness based techniques in my approach. I believe you are the expert and try to help empower clients to step into their sense of agency. I also try to incorporate and learn about your culture, context and values. I am currently learning more about Neurodiversity and affirming best practices.
I graduated from New York University’s Applied Psychology Program with honors and minored in English Literature. I have a Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling and a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching sci-fi & anime, astrology, photography and spending time with my dog, Jedi (who you might see virtually every so often or upon request).
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Best for anyone who has been experiencing PTSD, flashbacks, panic attacks, nightmares, and reliving or replaying distressing events or experiences you have been through or witnessed.
Offerings & Orientations
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Composed of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. For those needing coping and skills support for relationships and every day life stressors. Great foundation to do later trauma work and great for people who need tangible skills and like structure and homework.
Existential
A philosophical approach to support with meaning making, increasing agency, accountability and living more purposefully and authentically.
Feminist
A strengths based approach to understanding your symptoms through a socio-political lens and understanding power in the room and outside. Focuses on fostering empowerment. This approach is foundational to how I utilize the above theoretical approaches.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
A behavioral approach for OCD and anxiety that provides a step by step and more structured approach to challenge fears, avoidance and increase tolerance for uncertainty and discomfort.
Relational
Taking the therapeutic relationship into account to notice things that might be playing out in your relationships outside of the therapeutic space to help foster better awareness, vulnerability, communication and secure attachment.
Trauma informed
Focuses on safety, trust, transparency, collaborative care, mutuality, empowerment and choice. Your needs for safety, trust and collaborative care come first. I will be sure to pause and check in about your needs for treatment and plan and ask your consent before any new interventions or changes to treatment. You have the right to refuse anytime. This approach is foundational to how I utilize the above theoretical approaches.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
An affirming therapy that fosters better self awareness and understanding, decreases feelings of shame and increases self compassion and acceptance. Best for complex trauma and dissociation.
Multicultural
Understanding how the multiplicity of identities through race, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, etc. contribute to minority stress and the willingness to learn how your specific identities affect your mental health and values. This approach is foundational to how I utilize the above theoretical approaches.

Out of Network Support
I know how hard navigating insurance can be, please find some tools for support below!
For out-of-network coverage, contact your insurance company directly and ask the following questions:
Do I have out of network mental health benefits?
If so, how much per session or how many sessions can be reimbursed?
Do I have a deductible I need to meet first? If so, what is it?
How can I submit claims for reimbursement?
What information is necessary in order to submit claims?
How long can I expect to wait to receive my reimbursement check?
Or
Use Thrizer
For all other insurance companies I am not in network with, you may have out-of-network benefits!
This means that insurance will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost.
I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you.
With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions post-deductible, instead of paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save on average 70% upfront on our sessions.
During our intake process or phone consult, I can help you verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much your co-insurance would be.
